Gallic Books was founded by Managing Director, Jane Aitken, working with Editorial Director, Pilar Webb. Colleagues for many years at Random House UK, they are both committed francophiles.

The three-year-old Gallic list, bringing English-speaking readers new French writing in translation, goes from strength to strength. The UK edition of Muriel Barbery's The Elegance of the Hedgehog has now sold over 100,000 copies and in September we published her prize-winning first novel, The Gourmet, to critical acclaim. It's new in B format paperback this May.

For Spring 2010 we are launching a ground-breaking new series, Hector's Journeys by François Lelord, which has sold nearly three million copies worldwide. These modern fables explore essential truths about being human. In the first title, Hector and the Search for Happiness, young psychiatrist Hector travels around the world to find out what makes people happy. The book is soon to be a major film from the makers of The Last Station

We are also delighted to introduce Fabrice Bourland and his 1930s investigators, Singleton and Trelawney. In the spooky, atmospheric Baker Street Phantom, the intrepid pair help Lady Arthur Conan Doyle solve the mystery of a recent spate of London murders.

You can find out more about Gallic and our books by going to our partner websites www.bookhugger.co.uk and shopping online at www.biggreenbookshop.com. Bookhugger is an online literary magazine featuring the best content from a range of leading UK publishers and The Big Green Bookshop is an award-winning bookshop in Wood Green, North London. We are proud to have them both as our partners.

A bientôt.
